Gerry...I had an ortho tell me the same thing years ago (in my 20's!). I'd say find a pro-running doc. Ask other runners, check out at a running store (I go to Fleet Feet in St. Louis), go to another town/area. Someone's gotta get it! Also check out a more holistic chiropractor (and doc for that matter if possible...I mean one that believes the whole body is connected and that a knee isn't out there on its own!). Do you have to ice your knee after the shorter runs? If not.... I hope this helps and I wish you the best as you search out the answers! Beverly
