I'm considering either my 1st duathlon or tri in mid-August. The swim really scares me and I'm not sure I have enough time to train for it. (or how to train for it) What I really need to know though, are the bike requirements. Like can it be a mountain bike or does it have to be a road bike? I'm only looking at a sprint tri and don't want to get a brand new road bike and then find out that I don't like triathlons... I'm unable to find anything on the website about the bikes. I'm really only looking to finish the race and see if I like this sport. Looking for some advice from seasoned or unseasoned veterans. Thanks. :D

Hey Scott -
If you are not worried about your bike time, then mountain bike is fine, I remember a few at my first sprint race. Alternatively, they do have X-Terra races, where the bike is all Mountain and the run is often on trail.
Just some thoughts. I trained for my spring in 8 weeks, I had no run or swim experience at that point.
Go for it!!!
