Hi everyone. I'm thinking of getting a pedometer...any thoughts, do's, don'ts or suggestions? Never used one before. Thanks! Beverly |

You may wish to consider using a wrist mounted GPS like the Garmin Forerunnerr 205: not cheap but, not the most expensive.
There are many useful features most of which I dont use ( at 81 I'm not the sharpest techno-nerd ), but it does show the route that you've taken and, the part I like, is that you can plot your time tahken at any point on your route: as I follow the same route most days ( I'm trying to beat my own times ), I can check my time at specific point and then compare to-days time against yesterday.
I am not paid by Garmin to promote them, I just think it's a dandy device for what I use it.

Beverly, We have an Omron I think Omron Hj-112. It has a belt clip and is good for keeping up with your steps. It would be ok for mileage if you weren't to exacting and had set your stride correctly. If you need more accuracy in distance then Garmin or mapmyfitness.com
We use everything. The Omron with I'm walking on the treadmill, Garmin for my outdoor runs drawn up on mapmyfitness. |
