I'm looking at this as a discussion point and there are zero posts here. Does anyone out there really have a warm up or a cool down routine? I may walk a bit after running or start running slowly but I don't move a while, stretch and then get into it. I take a boot camp class on Tu & Th...we do the warm up cool down thing there but unless it's organized, does anyone out there really work it in? Please advise. Beverly |

Absolutely, but there is a bunch of stuff that suggests the best warm-up cool-down is just an easier version of what you are doing, so when I run, I walk a bit and then jog slowly before "beginning" my workout, when cycling, I pedal with less resistance at a slower cadence, when swimming I may do some laps alternately breast, back and freestyle before getting into my freestyle workout. Stretching before working out hasn't really been shown to have benefits, best to stretch after workout with warm muscles or as separate time with a 5-10 warm up and then 20-30 minutes stretching. |

Hey, I warmed up and cooled down today. Thanks for the inspiration. I found my workout to be better because of a few extra minutes spent taking care of myself. Thanks. Beverly |
