Melissa,
Like Lance Armstrong says with the bike, you just got to get on it and ride (paraphrasing there); so it goes with swimming...just get in the pool and swim! (I recently got myself into the pool after about a decade of non-swimming). I like it! If you want some cool gadgets like lap counters, I pod covers and waterproof headphones let me know. I find that I love having my music when I'm swimming too. It is a different workout to the running and is a super cross-training sport/tool. Lots of places have lessons (group, semi-private and private if you want help w/your strokes).
So put on your suit, gf, and dive in! |

Hi Melissa! I'm a swimmer too! I started about 5 years ago and have kept it up as the main activity in my exercise program. I started with no cap and no goggles but soon learned that was not the way to go. I have also added swim fins and hand paddles since then. Over the past five years my swimming has improved greatly but there is aways more work to be done. I will never give up on this awesome way of exercising! Recently we have formed a Master's swim team at our Y and I have joined. I am having the best time! I hope you get to the pool soon! Keep in touch. Robin |

They've got lots of gear including waterproof OtterBox covers for iPods and the headphones. I called because I had a couple questions and worked with a woman named Dani who was extra, super wonderful and went well above and beyond on the customer service end (she even sent me a picture of somethng after getting it out of the box from the warehouse on my cell phone from hers). I used to use the webbed gloves for more pull on my arm but now I'd rather keep count of laps with a ring lapcounter! Jump in! You won't regret it!
PS there's also an iPod cover called drypod but it was more expensive and they didn't make one for the mini (which isn't mini anymore but that's what they call it! Think I'll go get a Tall latte....) |
