You will be happy to know that if you are using the detailed food journal, you will now see the calorie expenditure box on your home page (this was only working for the simple food journal).

Chris,

I noticed that the BMR value has changed with the new update. Is this correct now or was the old number correct? Just curious as it does help to know this.

This is a great question and I want to include some additional information here. Initially we were using the figure of BMR x 1.2 in order to include a calorie buffer that covered daily activity with the exception of working out. The problem with this method is that:

1: its pretty confusing

2: it doesn't provide a way for you to customize your own value to meet your needs.

Everyone lives and works differently, and 1.2 was just not flexible enough for everyone. SO, I'm updating your settings menu (part 2 of the update) to include a custom multiplier for "extra" calories for the day. You can set this at any time via the settings menu, starting in just a few hours. This number will be applied to your daily calculation.

You can now make adjustments to your own BMR value to meet your needs. To make this change, just visit your settings menu. You can tweak your daily BMR calorie value by a positive or negative number. As an example, if you wanted to add 100 calories to your BMR calculation, you can just enter "100" into the bmr adjustment box in settings. If you wanted to REDUCE your BMR value by 100 calories, you can just enter "-100" in this box.

We were using the formula of 1.2 x bmr for our initial home page calculations. So if you had a bmr value of 2000 and you wanted to use the same formula, you would enter in "400" in the BMR adjustment box. This new method is way more flexible than the original set 1.2 method.

I've also updated the BMR calculation screen to note if you have anything listed in your bmr adjustment field in settings.

Yay! Thank you, Chris. I'd been waiting for the customized BMR--it's great!
