I want an inversion table but have not mustered the courage to dish out the doe ray me yet. I have lower back problems and a friend at church told me he used an inversion table whenever his back was acting up and it worked wonderfully. |

I just purcahsed an inversion table and I am waiting with bated breath on its delivery. Lower back has been stiffening up, even with stretching, so I am hoping the inversion, along with stretching and strengthening exercises will help eliminate the ache and improve my overall performance. |

This string is a really old one, but I don't see many here on stretching. The last person to post here said his back was stiffening, and was seeking a way to loosen it. My back too has grown horribly stiff. I'm only 47, so I don't feel it should be age-related (though I used to think 47 was ancient). I have been using an elliptical trainer for my cardio, and wonder if it might be the problem. I've also started stretching my hamstrings more after workouts, but it hasn't helped yet. My doc has done x-rays and says nothing is wrong "mechanically."
How did the inversion table work? Any other suggestions on stretching to loosen a tight lower back?
Thanks,
CS
