Hi, Beverly here. Stopping by to see how the summer's going for everyone. Anyone have any upcoming events? I don't as I'm just getting back to moving. Feet still an issue so this week I decided to go back to gym anyway and at least ride bike. To my surprise there was a rowing machine too! Nothing fancy but great for me. :) There's also a new lateral elliptical type machine...what a great idea! Next week I'm adding back some weights but for this week just moving. Hope you're all happy and well!

hello Beverly, yes, I, too would love to hear about some events the Fitness journalists are training for. I'm glad you're back to the gym. keep it up. I'm still walking, keeping my miles up and spirits up. My weight is creeping down, so it's all good. I would really like to add some yoga, but so far, all I do is talk about it.

Hi Loretta!! Glad to hear you're still plugging along!! :) so not I h action here, eh? Sad. Used to be lots of fun. I started eating much better and am doing good weight wise too. Just not toned. Also re-diagnosed with osteopenia (reminded probably a better word) so said I need to get back to some weight bearing exercising. This past week I did cardio and some core. Next week I'm adding in weights. Goal is 3-4 x/week. Again, glad to 'see' you out here!!

Hey Beverly! I'm still here too! :)

Was away from cyberspace for the holiday :). I have my second Duathlon this coming Sunday. 5k run, 20k bike, 5k run. Haven't been putting in the training that I'd like to but figure I should be able to hold my own and possibly surprise myself. My first Duathlon was last month and a very hilly course for my first one so I'm hoping this flat course will be an even better time. :)

Glad to see ya back!

Scott

Hi Beverley

I'm back too after being away for quite a while. I'm currently training for a rowing marathon in September. I'm also doing weights and swimming and some cycling/spinning.

Hope you're managing to get back into exercising without too many problems.

I must live vicariously through y'all for a bit. Tell me what you're doing for training and everything!! Beverly

Hey Beverly and group. I have a fair number of running events coming up, including the Rock 'n' Roll marathon in St. Louis in October. The past year has been a bit tough to fit in working out with the new job, but I am starting to get it sorted.

Loretta, I Geocache. Although, not all the time. It is fun, though. I'm training for a half marathon in October. So, mostly just trying to get my fanny out the door running. On off days I try to Spin. Nice Job, Beverly.

Wendy, I'm afraid I geocache a lot. it's not much cardio, but beats the heck out of sitting on the couch.

Seems like this is the busy time of the year for me. I am planning 2 5K runs for the end of the year. One at Halloween and the Run with Santa in mid December. The later I alsways do dressed as Santa.

Hi! What's geocache? As for me, I'm getting back to the gym but in spurts. Eating pretty on track except I've used the weekends as excuses for junk consumption. Ahhh well. Am considering...maybe, a Turkey Trot 5k as a goal. Thanksgiving's pretty far off. So far, have jogged a mile-mile-and-a-quarter on the treadmill. Sometimes the neuroma screams, others just makes itself known. Still not able to do anything without noticing it. This too shall pass.... What's everyone up to these days?

Beverly, your great attitude will see you through whatever you wish to do.....within reason. After getting stalled in my weight loss attempt I turned to the Medifast folks. They had been advertising about a local radio personality that'd lost over 100 pounds. Although I didn't need to lose that much, I figured why not, the best thing that I could do while starting the next phase of my life would be to shed those pounds that had hung on forever.

In the past nine weeks I have lost 21+ pounds and couldn't feel better....sometimes I get tired of eating soooo much. My energy level is up, my feet don't hurt as much and my clothes are falling off....

Hello from a voice out of the past. Boy have I gotten hit in the face by life. Mostly stress at work with a lot going on. Unfortunately for me, more stress seems to equal more snacking. Still working out but don't have the energy to make up for the snacks but on I go.

This past anniversary of my heart attack I did my version of a triathlon. Swam 1 mile in a pool with snorkel, exercise bike for 25 miles then "ran" (mostly walked) a 10K on the indoor track of my indoor marathon. I've got to figure out a more relaxing way to celebrate being alive. Still training with Dallas Galloway but probably just for a half marathon (I guess I could use it as a motivation to loose weight). Unfortunately for our running group (Lost in Pace), I'm one of the pace group leaders. So far we haven't gotten to lost. I've taken a couple of falls this year and injured my shoulder some. Falling is way over rated. :-) Have the DRC half, Turkey Trot and Dallas marathon half left to finish this year. On Tuesdays I'm "studying" for a stress test I have in October sometime. Sharon is still helping out with the running group and will always be my beautiful bride. So much better than I deserve. Still am easily discouraged and think Eeyore was an optimist.

Great to "see" everyone still around. I'll try and check in more often.

Hey Bob!

It seems like life has been rough. I'm sorry to hear that your struggling. Just know that the struggle is worth it. I like the adage, "will this really be important in a year?" Sometimes that helps me sort the stress.

Happy anniversary! And don't be too hard on yourself. Your a survivor try and enjoy the survival.

What a terrific Anniversary to celebrate Bob!! I bet Sharon concurs. :-) I hope to be celebrating a special anniversary with Dan next year too. He is having his ascending aortic aneurysm repaired on the 21st. Nervous yet excited. It's basically like open heart surgery with a twist. He's with a great doc and medical team so all we can do is trust and take the leap. I'll be adding prayer to the mix too. :-) I hope everyone is doing well out there!

Well I just completed my latest stress echo cardiogram. I was hoping for 16 minutes but my doctor stopped me at 15 because I finally got my heart rate up to 147. I had "studied" for it at our fitness center over the last month and I guess it helped. He said when I got through that I had achieved 160% of my age group predicted maximum.

Have my first half of the year Sunday with 2 others in my pace group. I guess it's about the journey but it is encouraging to have small victories along the way.

Finished the half (slower than last year) but am really proud of the two others from our group. They did great and we even had a member finish the New York marathon.

The positive of my race is that even from mile 10 (when I started walking more) I passed a half a dozen people from there to the finish. I was able to run a little as well. We have our longest training run this weekend (24 to 26). Of the four of us doing it, two are running the half and the other two the full. I'm hoping to have my own "full" after the race for the other member who has done the full training but is not running a full.

Well don Bob! Keep it up! :D

The only thing I've been consistent at this year is being inconsistent with my training. I have a half marathon Saturday that I'm going into with the plan of going out in a blaze of glory and see what happens. After the half I have a 5k towards the end of the month and then I'm done racing till spring. There is an off chance that I'll run a 1/2 marathon in February, but not likely at the moment. Keep on keeping on folks!

Good to see activity here. Bob, you inspire me with your 'stuck to it' attitude. Thanks.

So my life has been in a bit if a turmoil of late. Dan had his aneurysm repaired! So exciting. It's like open heart surgery with a twist. So now he's in recovery phase. ;-) Big load lifted, to be sure.
