Chris,

I looked the Calorie Expenditure last night on the net but I'm still confuse.

Calorie Expenditure

BMR X 1.2:- 1664 (should my goal be to stay below this # but not go below 1000?)

Workout: - 367 (How does this help?)

Calories Consumed: 1200

________________________________________

Total Calories -831 (Since I'm trying to loose weight is this good or not?)

You are burning more calories than you are consuming

My goal is to loose 25lbs.

hey rosa,

the BMR is your base metabolic rate...it is considered the min number of calories you should consume for the day. The reason why chris added the x 1.2 is so it adds in things like moving around and other basic expenditures of energy. So that total number (1664) is an estimate of what your body burns in a given day without any additinal excersise. He shows it as a negative to say here is what you have to reach to stay the same weight (think of it as a hole, or deficit, and when you fill it up by 1664 you are now level).

Since your workout consumed 367 calories, you just dug a slightly bigger hole (which is a good thing!)

The calories you consumed for the day (1200) is how much you filled your hole in by...which means that you didn't fill it in all the way, so if you are trying to lose weight, you came out ahead.

regards,

Adam

Chris,

I count steps and miles. I estimate that I would walk about 2 miles normally in a day, but add more to get up to 4+ miles a day. When I look at the BRM x 1.2 calculation, would that include those steps I am counting? Should I be counting calories for any or all of the steps, or just those above the 2 miles I would normally walk?
