Diane - I am not a great authority on this, but I will offer up my experiences.

I too have had a goal to drop weight. I am working out far more than ever before, but I still find that if I let my diet slip, the pounds come back on.

Last week 5 lbs. So I believe the word is discipline, maintaining the exercise level while following whatever diet you are using.

I am sure there are differences in diets, but losing weight seems to come down to two things Calories Consumed and Calories Burned in a day. What ever mean you use to control it will be fine as long as you are consistent.

Best of luck to you, keep us posted...

Diane - you also need to change your workout around because your body gets effecient at what it does regularly. I know that you've just changed, so hopefully that will shake things up a bit!! I change my strength training routine totally every 4-6 weeks, although I have to admit that I've hit plateaux too - I went back to checking my portion size for a while and found that I'd gradually increased what I was eating without realising. Start measuring for a couple of weeks and you might find that it helps. My pasta portions for example had practically doubled in size - I was only logging one portion and I was actually eating two!!

Good luck! Just remember a couple of things. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water everyday 64+oz a day. You really need to keep track of everything you eat and how many calories you burn during your workouts. I use the food & workout Journal for this. ON the food journal i made my own custom food list by taking everything i eat in the house and inputing everything in. It took a little while but worth it because it give you a more auccurate reading. Try to come up 500-800 calories short each day. In the food journal it will add up all your cal. you ate and subtract your cal burned during your workout plus your BMR.

Good Luck and stay motivated!!
