Thanks for setting this up Gerry! I'm in. I'll post my goals later on today once I figure out what I want to do. :D

Totally in! :) This challenge will get us almost all the way through May. It's Spring here too and I'm ready to be out in it (even though winter coat may come out today to walk the pups since low tonight said to be 33...might I mention that we were 90 degrees yesterday???? Just sayin'). My goals for this 8 weeks are as follows:

1. Move 3+ hours/week, no more sedentary slug for me. I have 3 dogs to exercise, 4 counting our old man Tigger who is almost 14.

2. Drink at least 6 8-oz glasses of water/day.

3. Lose 5-8 pounds (13 would be great but keeping it real here). I intend to do this by upping the fruit/vegie counts and watching portion sizes; perhaps logging food (as yet undecided).

4. Check into FJ at least twice/week to log my success and stay in touch with Challenge members.

Thanks for hosting Gerry!!

I'm in! I would like to lose 10lbs but would be happy with 7lbs!! I'm doing quite a lot of cardio to try and shift the weight, but I want to try and do strength training at least twice a week. I'm trying to watch my portion size like everyone else and logging my food so that I'm aware of this. Good luck everyone!!!

We had a beautiful day (it hit 80) today but apparently will have some pretty ugly storms to return us to "normal" for April.

I would like to lose at least 8 pounds...I would really like 10 but I have had a tough time getting the scale to budge lately so I will be realistic.

Since I managed my 2 mile run yesterday without pain I will run 2 x a week for the next 4 weeks (as recommended by my doctor) and will progess to 3 times from there. I will gradually increase mileage and plan to run a 5k mother's day weekend. By the end of the 8 weeks I would like to average 10-15 miles per week again. I have my eye on a 10k in July, but that's for the next challenge :)

I would like to workout in some manner 5 days a week, and I have options: yoga, running, elliptical or EA sports active 2 for the Wii.

Welcome back everyone and hello to anyone I haven't done a challenge with before!

After much debate with me, myself, and I, my goal for this week is to maintain my current fitness level. One hard run (probably tomorrow) along with 2 easy runs (tonight and Thursday) and then taking it relatively easy with some basic stretching Friday and Saturday before Sunday's 1/2 Marathon. I'm aiming to run with a buddy that wants to break 1:50:00 in the race, so my unofficial job is to pace him to his goal. :D Have a great week everyone!

Thinking about adding 5k training to my goals. Used to be easy, now following couch tater to 5k guidelines. Just don't know which pup to run it with (if any depending upon how hot on June 5).

Ok! I think I'm ready to try this (thanks to your previous encouragement Scott & Beverly)!

Here are my goals (no minimum time/distance set on the activities...getting myself out the door will be a huge accomplishment for me right now):

1. Run at least 3 days a week.

2. Lift weights at least 3 days a week.

3. "Eat Clean" (healthy food & only when I'm hungry) at least 3 days a week. (Again, sounds crazy, but this would be a big deal for me right now). :)

I'm not adding weight-loss as a goal, but if it should happen, you may find me celebrating about it!

Looking forward to this!

Way to go Brigitte! It's about progress, not perfection. Sometimes we're at a point where 1 hour a week seems like a lot! So do what you can and remember to enjoy a moment or two. :)

Didn't "feeeeel like" going for a walk yesterday but decided to just go for 10 minutes then see what happened (sneaky because 10 min out means 10 min back...didn't tell my brain that tho). Ended up 2+ miles. Banger (our miniature bull terrier puppy) enjoyed his walk too.

Where is everyone? Checking in good :) Joining in good too for those of you thinking about it....

Planning on getting a good fast paced run in tonight and an easy one tomorrow before I take to stretching leading into the 1/2 on Sunday. Didn't run yesterday as my wife was sick and had to take care of my baby. It was too cold for a stroller run. Have a great second half of the week everyone!

Thanks for the welcome Gerry! Sorry to hear about the stumble...hope you recover quickly!

I went for a quick jog on my lunch break today - I'm a little "rusty," but it felt good & I'm glad I went. Little by little...

Gerry, Sorry about your knee!!!!! Owie. As I tell the dogs...HEAL!

Banger is a puppy, puppy so at this point I don't use around the waist with him (I'd end up taking a big spill). Once I'm confident in our teamwork around all kinds of situations, and know that he'll not cross in front of me, then I'll just tie him to my waist. That's what I do with my Giants. Now that I've found a most super-neato device called the WalkyDog (no ownership or affiliation, just highly recommend), I run my Giants using my bike! They are a beautiful sight to see. Plus, I typically could never go fast or far enough for them.

Brigitte, great job today. Focus on the positive! (Most of what I'll type is a note to myself disguised as a note to you). :)

Scott, good to see you're still out there doing well! Yay!

Logged a two mile run tonight...still pain free...yay! Gonna be a slow progression at only 10% increase per week when starting at 2! I have worked out 4 days straight so I am well on my way to 5/7 this week. Looks like everyone has started off pretty well. Sorry about the knee Gerry - get yourself better and get back out there next week!

Gerry, I've had a knee swell up but I had to poke it with a sharp rusty piece of metal. Sorry to hear about your injury and I hope you get well soon. What about walking in a pool?

Welcome Brigitte. You have joined a great group of encourager's.

Beverly, I can't imagine running with any dogs. I see a lot of them though at the lake. A couple of times we've seen a lady with a couple of Great Danes. As we've looked up at them and wondered how she keeps them in check.

Diane, It difficult for me to think of 80 degrees and beautiful day at the same time. Congratulations on your mileage.

Scott, Have you had to get one of those multi hook medal holders for all your races? You got through your half faster than I can do a 15K. So if we ever race you have to give me a 5 mile head start. OK?

Got in a 5 miler on the Tmill this morning at a 10:20 pace. (Oh if running in real life was that easy.)Had to get to work a little early so in spite of my 12,000 steps at work the day before and my planed 18 plus miler this weekend, I put the hammer down and ran as fast as my stumpy legs would go. At one point got to 6.5 mph but any more than that and parts of me start rebelling with serious thoughts of injury.

By the way. If you have a Garmin that tracks your route and shows it to you on a map after you down load, (I found out this last Saturday) and you want to spell your name, you need a big area to do it in. I tried on a big street and even after zooming all the way in it just looked like am;sofgia

Hi everyone - sounds as if you're all doing really well!! I'm still on track - ran 2 miles yesterday, went on my rowing machine this morning and to a zumba class tonight. I'm having to increase my running really slowly in an effort to stop my achilles problem starting up - slow and steady and a lot of cross training!!!

40 mins on the exercise bike this morning. Went out for something to eat this evening and although I ate more than I have been having (and had dessert!)didn't overdo it too much.

Running tomorrow morning and rowing on Sunday - hope the weather continues to stay fine for that!

Had a really good run this morning and was on a roll!! Did just over 3miles for the first time in months. I felt that I could have run further but restrained myself for the sake of my ankle!!! Just have to be careful not to undo the good work by overeating today!

Two mile run again this afternoon. Five workouts for the week! My husband went with me which was a first and was fun...more for me than for him :) I could definitely have gone longer but I am following doctors orders.

Welcome Ruth - just jump right in!!

Well I've been rowing on the local river today. I'm due to go in a regatta for the first time next Sunday, so we've been practising race starts and generally rowing. I've got blisters as a result!! I wore some different gloves, so I'm going to go back to my old ones next week, even if they do make me too hot now the weather's warmed up!! Burned the extra calories I ate yesterday though!!

Gerry, I sooooo relate! And we promise ourselves....no more stuff!! Then it creeps back into our lives, so much so we PAY to store it. Yep. Been there. Also, super glad to hear your knee recovering so quickly (probably helped along by puppy kisses!!!).

What river Steph?? Very cool.

Did about 2.5 hours of yard work today, just in a couple beds. Pooped.

Brigitte, how's your weekend??

Bob, thou art ever a source of inspiration for me. Glad I'm back
