Hey everyone,
I'm wondering what you eat while you are on the move. I just did my first marathon and the gels/gummy bears ended up being so sweet I could hardly get them down in the end. I'm looking for variety. I have a 1/2 iron coming up this summer and would appreciate some input! Thanks! Vickie |

Ditto that...I'm doing a 1/2 in June. I have heard:
Numbero uno are salt tablets...prevent dehydration and cramping
Rolaids for stomach aches, cramps
Peanut butter sandwiches, banannas, etc.
Maybe a tri post or endurance post regarding nutrition is needed?

Matt - One bite at a time... Sorry - I had to do that. ;o)
I had some Margarita with Salt Cliff Blocks during my 1/2IM in September, and man did it hit the spot.
I also like fig bars with whole wheat. on long bike rides the "Elvis Presley" Bread, Peanut Butter, and Sliced Banana - hits the spot...

I like to use Ensure shakes as a nutrient dense meal on the go. On the bike I'll fill a couple of water bottles. That's about 1100 cals per water bottle. The good thing about ensure is that it has a good carb to protien balance. Mostly carbs-a little protien. I need to be careful because protien tends to foam and upset my stomach. On the run I mix 1 gel per bottle on the fuel belt and take in electrolytes via the hydration tables. One addition for the 08 race year will be to supplement with a salt/electrolyte tabs
