Do you or do you rest...c'mon and tell the truth. I'm looking for inspiration or some sense. Please advise. Beverly

Thanks! I was running a low grade fever last night so I did the stay in bed thing this a.m. and think it was the right decision. It's suppose to be a beautiful day here so I'm thinking of a walk to enjoy it. I appreciate the response and encouragement. You're right about not wanting to lose the rhythm. B

Chansonette: You gotta listen to what your bod is telling you, but like any good caregiver knows...you've gotta learn to decipher reality from "don't feel like it." On the sleep thing, my mom used to make herself get up and do her least favorite thing, ironing, when she had bouts of m.h-h.i. Guess who I learned the [good] mind-games from? Oh, here you go...go for a walk if you're not sleeping anyway...or, put on the Firm! or Yoga yeah, that's even better. You can even get a free yoga dvd from McDonalds when you buy a salad and a milk (I know because I brought my grandson there for a treat). There's a Bing Crosby movie in which he sings a song about when he can't sleep, he doesn't count sheep...he counts his blessings. Maybe that could work. Read? Do puzzles. I'm just starting that whole lovely phase so I can't be of any practical help. I'm sure I'll be turning to you for guidance! I know you'll figure it out because this can't keep you down; we need you CB! Beverly

Do what you can, girl, but do all that you are able! I love the phrase "reasonable consistency"...a concept that has eluded me most of my life :) In fact, I'm going to add it to my inspiration journal. Thanks, B

Hi Gerry,

The best advice is the easiest and toughest...listen to your body. If you do, you'll know what you're able to do and you can't find out from any book. Start out with a slow walk, jog, run, whatever and see where it takes you (without pushing it when recovering). A couple weekends ago I had the flu and decided to get out on Sunday for fresh air; I could barely walk a half mile. Today I went over an hour on a Precor elliptical just fine. Shush your brain and start listening to your body.
