Does anyone have any ideas what the typical distance is in a 45-minute spin class? I was a little surprised not to find this information on the web or at spinning.com.
Thanks |

Hi Allison, I am a spinning instructor - the answers to your question is related to how fast you are spinning and at what gear level. Most people are spinning between 75 and 100 revolutions per minute at a relatively light gear. This equates to around 14 - 15 miles per hour. So in a 45 minute spin class with a warm up and cool down you probably are going around 10 - 12 miles. If your really work hard and at higher gears you can average 20 miles per hour (very tough workout) and you would go between 18-20 miles per hour. We have an Ultimate Ride we do 2x a month. We go 3 hours and try to get 50 miles in - we have Lemond spinning bikes with odometers. That is very tough. |

John, thanks for your response. Based upon my performance today, I don't see an Ultimate Ride in my future! |
