On Monday, Feb 18th, a few members of Team Fitness Journal will be riding the 100 miles of stage one for the Tour of California. We will be doing an early morning ride before the course is closed to traffic, with the hopes of reaching the finish line in Santa Rosa. FJ Mobile will be our SAG vehicle and we will be posting pictures and reports either during the ride, or on Monday evening. We will keep you posted!

We make it to the finish line with plenty of time to get something to eat and then watch the pros come in to finish their 3 laps.

Great pictures Chris...now my heart really aches to ride outside. No mustard in Minnesota.

Great to hear about the FJ crew and fantastic to see the group ride photos.

Here is one more that I really like from the pro's finish. I really like his bike with the Roval carbon wheels. Also note: He has a white GPS unit designed to gather and transmit location information for use with Adobe's amazing live map application.

It was 93 miles.. unless you were in the group that missed the turn off route 1. That group gained an additional 6 bonus miles (3 out and 3 back)... unless you were Adrian, who was so stoked to do a CENTURY that he decided to ride in loops around the parking lot after the ride just to pass the 100 mile mark ;-)

Congratulations Adrian on your very first century!

Oh what I would give to be 17 again. Hmmmmm, well I guess there are some advantages to adult hood, but smiling all the way to 100 miles was not one of them!!! I have to say that this youngster went on a ride with us on 7-4-07 and had some difficulty toward the end.

Just over 6 months later, and he is crushing us. What an amazing improvement!!! He is already an excellent Swimmer, Mountain Biker, now Road Biker, and from what I can see on the miles, her is starting to log some running miles.

I don't know if he has done his first Tri, but he is going to do excellent! (If it is even a goal) What do you say Adrian????

Here in Sonoma, its hard not to root for Levi. He lives in Santa Rosa and rides on all the same roads that we do. If you ask about the Wednesday rides at the NorCal bike shop, they will tell you that "they are normally pretty relaxed, unless Levi shows up, then they can be pretty fast".

There are lots of great riders out on the tour. I'm excited to watch the tour get bigger every year. After three years of visiting Santa Rosa, its starting to gain quite a following.

Wow thats quite a question about your favorite team. After viewing the current teams in the ATOC. I must say that I'm leaning towards Slipstream.... not necessarily because of the team members, or their chance of winning anything, but more because of what they stand for and the passion that Jonathan Vaughters has towards building young riders and then let'um fly.

Speaking of developing people, I also like Michael Ball's philosophy about giving folks a second chance...I liked that he donated serious bucks to the Sacramento Boys and Girls club when they were in town, plus he had riders visit with at risk kids while in town. He is seeing the bigger picture which I tend to embrace.

Sure I like the Astana team and feel that they are getting screwed by not being invited to the Tour and the other races owned by the same company, ASO. I signed the petition to let Levi Ride and encourage all of my other FJ folks to do the same.

I am also partial to BMC since three friends are key management folks. Drs. Max Testa and Eric Heiden were such an integral part of our community until they bolted to Utah. Although these guys are big shots n the International and Olympic scenes, they are so genuinely devoted to the good health of people. Amongst the confusion after the stage finish here in Sacramento, we were walking through the team area. Eric was busy organizing the team and talking with important race people when he saw me "behind the ropes". He recognized me and before long we were talking about going Mountain Biking in Moab. Such a nice guy!!!!
