Had another good week. Ran 10 miles on Saturday and then got some swimming, paddle boating, and some water skiing in the rest of the weekend. Looking to get another run in tonight. Have 5k to help setup for on Friday night for work and then run hard in it and then clean up. It should be a fun race. First and possibly last hosted at the hospital but time will only tell. Not sure what the weekend holds after Fridays race. There's potential for a trip north for swimming but it is undecided. I do need to sneak in a long run on Sunday. Have a great week everyone!

The Too Hot To Handle 15K was cooler than expected. Temps ran from 75 to 80 with humidity in the mid 50's. Still warm for me. I drank 75 ounces and still lost 3.5 pounds. Finished in 1:54:54 which is not even in the same ballpark, city, state or country as Scott. Hey Scott are you about 18 years old? Please say you are. It would make these 52 year old bones feel some consolation. There were some photos and I'll post if I can. Have a 10 to 11 scheduled with the group this weekend. Another 5:00 am run. |

Greetings fellow challengers! Today is the first day of my training so I am focused on it, and not last week. Time to move forward. I think I tend to have a 'freak out' response to making an event commitment (Oh no, what have I done????).
So the training plan is planned...aggressive but not in speed or total miles just in getting out there every day. No planned days off but very light days scheduled and, in case you didn't see it, there's an asterisk by "no" which if you read the fine print below says each week gets a day if needed.
So, goals pretty much the same as before but instead of moving xhours/week it is follow my training plan. Also, in the realm of progress not perfection, is my new found flexability in the training time. For instance...this morn, did not get up. Perfectionist me says, drat already off to a bad start (especially after last week). PNP me says, get your bum out there tonight. So off I go into the neighborhood with the pups. Day one of my 20 week training program.
Enough rambling! Would love to hear from the rest of you out there! |

Totally unrelated to fitness: In 7 more days, Sharon and I will have been married 25 years. It's amazing to me how she could put up with such a high maintenance guy as me....then again she is my trophy wife. 25 is silver so I'm getting her......oh yea she might read this....better keep quiet.
I guess to relate it to fitness at least for me. There are no quick fixes. Staying healthy takes commitment, a long term commitment. Sometimes exercises and being careful about diet aren't "fun and exciting" but you get through it and you are better and stronger for it.

Congrats Bob!
Haven't ran in a few days but do plan on getting out there tonight after work. (hopefully) I have started a very basic strength routine. It's not much but I hope to build it into a regular routine and add difficulty in time. I think a strength routine was one of my goals for this challenge? If not it is now. :D Have a 5k hosted by work on Friday night. Hopefully the t-storms are an outright lie and it goes off without any major problems. Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!

For a second I thought the water puddle behind me was where I rung out my head band but it was a water stop.

Beverly, I'm venturing to run tomorrow because I lost the "Battle of Snackmore Pass". Some mistakes I made at work led me to those pesky snack machines. All that snacking still hasn't made me feel better. |

Yeah, wassupwidat snacking Bob? I hear it can happen to the best of us :) There's always hope! Speaking of which, I saw one of the most incredible rainbows I've ever seen. It was around 6 this morning and I could see the entire arc. Inside/underneath the bow it was grey and outside/above it was a light grey mixed with blue skies and a few clouds. Then, bam, bam, bam, the lightning seemed to come from the arc itself shooting bolts down into the grey. Truly amazing! |
