I have developed a pain on the outside of both legs about 5 inches below the center line of my knee. At first I thought it might be a I T band problem but it doesn't hurt when I run. It does hurt as I go up stairs, stand up from sitting or as I am sitting down. I'm wondering if it might be calf related. If anyone has any ideas and or tips on making it not hurt I would appreciate it. I can't do any lunges or squats until I can figure this out. |

Gary,
I have also thought of my running shoes with 500+ miles on them (my body saying "hey get new shoes!" or walking on a treadmill at 15 degree slope at 3.7-5 mph (tiring on the calves). It has gotten a bit better but I still notice it if I am pushing away and up with my feet.
Thanks for checking.

Hey! Listen to the body about the shoes dude!!!! I was thinking about getting some before I really need them to work my way into them and you just inspired me Bob. I'm curious if you find anything else out. Beverly |

I must say that since I have been running in my new shoes the pain has gotten less and less. I haven't thought about a sports physiologist. I guess I don't think of myself as enough of an athlete yet. Thanks though for the ideas and suggestions. I think the lesson I have learned is that when you have high mileage on shoes just putting a new insert doesn't give you another 100 miles.

Bob, you could go back to the store where you got the new shoes, tell them where you're experiencing the pain and it may be as simple and adding an insert for support in an area that needs it. I just found out my orthotics are shot and are having new ones made (really flat feet). So a podiatrist could help or maybe something as simple as Dr. Scholl. Glad the new shoes help! Beverly |
